Facebook co-founder, Mark Zuckerberg, a long-term idea of integrating Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram is finally taking shape. Earlier this year, we saw WhatsApp with the Facebook Messenger Rooms button, allowing people to go directly to Messenger and start a video call. Now, the company has decided to allow you to send a text message to Messenger from your Instagram DM without having to download the app.
“The main change is that people using Messenger can now reach you on Instagram without downloading a new app, and vice versa,” Instagram head Adam Mosseri and Messenger head Stan Chudnowski said in a blog. In addition, people can also control whether they receive messages and calls, such as in their conversations, or in their message requests, or not at all.
It is also mentioned that in the future, anyone will be able to communicate seamlessly with friends and family through Instagram and Messenger using either of the two apps to send messages and engage in video calls.
In future updates, they can also watch Facebook Watch, IGTV, Reels, TV Shows, Movies, and more during video play.
Instagram DM will get some other messenger features, in addition, to Vanish mode where messages disappear as soon as they are received, personal photo stickers, chat color customization, custom emoji reaction, redirects, replies, animated message effects, updated reporting, and blocking updates.
The company will implement these facilities in some countries around the world and will soon expand it internationally. “This is only the beginning of making it easier to keep in touch with friends and family through our applications.”
